Over the course of my time here on DA I've come across some truly talented artists. If there's one misconception this website has, it's that Deviantart is a cesspool of anime traces, screencaps, crayon drawings and doodles you usually draw on your test after you're done and the teacher isn't looking. And while that does exist here, it's not 100% what this community is made up of. I'm by no means a wizard with a brush. My best drawing was a chibi version of the l33t player model from Counter-Strike, and that was 6 years ago. I've found my niche in skinning for Source, but I can't help but envy many of these people. They have the talent, skills and desire to craft anything they wish with nothing more than some paper, art supplies and an idea. So here's links to a few artists here that have some unique and amazing talent, and have me checking their profiles every so often to see what else they've come up with.
[link] PatrickBrownAn illustrator hailing from Tasmania. Patrick's works never disappoint. Always top notch with great attention to detail and coloring work. His art covers a wide array of media from Grand Theft Auto and Fallout to Buffy and Scarface. He retains a certain element of oldschool style comic artwork which I can't quite put my finger on, and consequently is one of the aspects of his art that I'm drawn to (no pun intended). He also injects some great humor is his stuff as well from time to time which I also enjoy.
[link] ArtgermI really have to wonder sometimes about many of these artists coming out of the Far East. It's like they're from another planet or something. Case in point, Stanley Lau out of Singapore. An artist whose art simply screams quality and professionalism. Each one of his works are rich and vibrant, with painstaking attention to detail and realism. Some Star Wars fans might know him as the artist responsible for the art for the Star Wars Galaxies card game. His artwork tackles a wide array of subjects and characters. From futuristic Asian Dancers, to grizzled Ronin and Wild West gunmen. Definitely someone you'll want to add to your watch list.
[link] SideshowmonkeyAn animator for Disney with a taste for the macabre. Sideshowmonkey has done some truly sinister and wicked pieces. He's also done art for Rob Zombie which instantly earns him his place on my watch list. If you check out his gallery, be sure to take a look at Superbeast, Werewolf Women of the SS and The Pumpkin Guard. You can also visit his website here
[link]. An artist whose not afraid to dive into the spooky side, Sideshowmonkey has done, and continues to do some great stuff.
[link] MjranumMjranum is a photographer whose shots I've come to enjoy recently. He has interesting & fun ideas, Great execution with his shots, and a bevy of sexy ladies for his projects.
[link] Genzomanlast but certainly not least is Genzoman. Like Artgerm, his works are always vibrant with wonderful coloring, and the posing he does for his characters are very dynamic. His work has a slight Anime style to it while being original all it's own. His subject Matter is endless. From Ancient Warriors to Rockers to Moses himself. Genzoman's Work is stunning each and every time I browse his gallery. And no matter what I'm looking at, I usually find something new in it.
